With the start of our 2020 Summer Share, we will begin our biggest season ever at Wild Hare Organic Farm. With so many of our dedicated long-time members, and the opportunity to welcome a handful of newcomers to the CSA, we're truly honored to feed you all at such a difficult and strange time. Yes, there are differences from years past, but the next 18 weeks will still be celebration of all things leafy, juicy, crisp, bright, and delicious. I look forward to sharing it all with you throughout the arc of the growing season. Here's what you need to know as we get started this week:
WHAT IS THE WILD HARE WEEKLY ?
I write and send a newsletter by every Monday evening, outlining a bit of what we're up to on the farm, what we're harvesting, what's tentatively going in the CSA shares, what's for sale at the farm stand, and most importantly, helpful ideas for how to store and prepare the produce that you're taking home. I share some of Mark's and my favorite recipes, but I love to share a lot of member recommended recipes as well. If you make something tasty, share it! Also, I promise you that most newsletters are much more brief than this one;)
WHEN DO I PICK UP AT THE FARM? The farm is open on Tuesday from 12-7pm, Wednesday from 10am-5pm and Saturdays from 10am-3pm for standard CSA pickup and for grocery shopping.
WHAT ABOUT COVID-19 PROCEDURES?
Providing you all with nourishment and a place to feel safe and be proud of has always meant the world to us. Our current procedures and expectations for visiting the farm during the COVID-19 outbreak are linked here and always available on our website. I encourage you to read and become familiar with the info before you come. Also, to the additional packing and sanitizing that we're doing these days, it is not possible for us to accommodate early bird customers. Please, make a note of our hours and plan to come during our open business hours only.
ADD-ONS TO MY SHARE (EGGS, SALAD & BREAD):
Our farm fresh Eggs, Salad Mix and Bread Shares are separate, add-on items/not automatically included with a CSA Share. . Egg and Salad Shares will be pre-packed for you to collect near the reach-in refrigerators at the end of the CSA buffet line. Bread shares will be behind the counter with Katie for the time being. If you're not sure if you've signed up for an add on of one or more of these items, please check with a staff member before taking them
OPTIONS FOR CONTACTLESS/AFTER HOURS PICKUP: If you would prefer contactless pickup, just give us advance notice and we will make a pre-packed share available to for you to pick up at one of the following days/times:
Tuesday: Pre-packed/Contactless Pickup at the farm after 7pm
Wednesday: Pre-packed Contactless Pickup at the farm after 10am
Wednesday: Pre-packed Pickup at North 47 Brewing Co, Browns Point 4pm-7pm (you can grab your share and a growler to go!)
Saturday: Pre-packed/Contactless at the farm between 10am-3pm.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE MY CHOSEN PICKUP?
As always, if you have trouble (planned or otherwise) making your scheduled pickup, we can arrange for an alternative option at the farm if you give us notice. Just call, text or email the farm and we can come up with an option for you.
.......And above all, know that we'll be here to greet you and walk you through it all when you arrive. Even though I didn't think it was possible to love our CSA members any more than we do, this year above all, Community Supported Agriculture has meant everything to our farm. Here, in our sixth season in the Puyallup Valley, I look forward to helping one another keep growing at a time when it matters most.
Many Thanks,
Katie
PS: We are indeed sold out of shares for Summer. Steadily, I'm responding to inquiries, working through our waitlist for Summer and crunching numbers with Mark to determine if/when it is prudent for us to bring on folks who are interested in full year shares.
