Another week, another great harvest at hand. There’s more Sweet Corn, more awesome Tomatoes, maybe one last round of Romano Beans, and another handful of Mini Cantaloupes coming in from the field. And this week, we’re adding our Shishito Peppers into the mix. Shishitos are small, thin-walled peppers that are typically mild in flavor and make a deliciously simple appetizer when blistered on a hot dry skillet. I like mine this way, with a squeeze of lemon and a little sprinkle of salt, though our customers have shared legends of epic burritos and incredible pizzas they’ve made with them. Shishitos typically mild in flavor; however, the plants do produce an occasional medium-spicy pepper. When we eat them as a family, whichever one of us gets one with a little heat to it calls it out like BINGO. That’s how unserious the threat of spice is here.

Labor Day may mark the change of seasons and customs, but there’s plenty of Summer to come as far as our fields are concerned. Shout out to the Wild Hare Crew who harvested crate after crate of sweet little Cantaloupes, Cucumbers and Heirloom tomatoes from the greenhouse, so many Roma Tomatoes and Romano Beans. Tomorrow, they’ll harvest fresh Celery, lovely Napa Cabbage and a whole lot of ears of Wild Hare Organic Sweet Corn. The only thing better than that corn is the crew that grew it. Mark and I want you to join us in sending huge thanks to David, Claire, Emilie, Esme, Hazel, Kelly, Maple, Tim and Zack—for the long days, tough jobs, new experiences, brightness and straight up goodness that you each bring to this farm.

Late Summer on a platter—that’s basically what the fields are serving up for us. Since the Romas and Cherry Tomatoes are still going strong, I’m keeping the party going with our Bulk Tomato Sale through Labor Day weekend too. So, come on by and stock up this week at the farm stand!
We’re also picking our first round of Wild Hare Organic Sweet Corn and an abundance of beautiful fresh Romano Beans. (We know you’ve been waiting:).
